About Us
UIC is a religious civil association governed by its statutes under the laws of Uruguay, aimed at serving the Islamic community within its borders and interacting with Islamic organizations and entities abroad.
It has 27 years of experience and is recognized throughout the Arab and Muslim world. It has a Quality Management System, which allows to provide food safety certifications and Halal rites to certified plants.
The UIC has its own Halal certification system that is based on ISO 9001, ISO 22001, BRC and Codex Alimentarius HACCP standards. The work philosophy of the Islamic Center of Uruguay is based on strict principles of ethics, seriousness, loyalty and confidentiality, following the mandates of morality and respect for Sharia.
We have a team of highly qualified and experienced professionals who understand the process and its needs, which provides valuable benefits to our clients.
The UIC is the largest certifier of Halal products and services in Uruguay, it was the first entity to implement the Halal System in the country following the main international standards such as:
FSSC 22000, ISO 227164, GMP, Animal Welfare;
Malaysian Standard (Malaysia) MS 1900, MS 1500, MS 2300, MS 2424;
KEPKABAN BPJPH (Indonesia) – number 20: 2023, PEPRES BPJPH – number 6: 2023, KEPKABAN BPJPH –

Goals:
The UIC aims to help and unite the local Muslim community, and supports the well-being of its members by offering them employment opportunities where available. Under this premise, UIC chooses the most suitable members to hire in the organization, administrative or technical, trying to have Muslims among its local residents. However, the UIC also hires Muslims from abroad, when necessary, to collaborate as religious sheikhs, as technicians or as experts.
The main fines of the UIC are:
– Serve as a center of worship for local Muslims.
– The teaching of the Koran, customs, culture and the Islamic religion.
– Service and guidance to foreign Muslims in Uruguay.
– Halal Certification within the country and for export plants.

through the various cultural and religious activities of the Center and caring about their well-being.
